Always look on the bright side of life!

My last post about being a teacher was after I had had a really terrible day, so I decided that I needed to post when it had been a good day at school.

You know when you wake up expecting to just have one of those pass through life days where nothing exciting or significant happens, well that was me this morning, until.....

As my day started like clockwork I began to realize that I only have 20 something more days of school with these children I have been teaching all year. I think being a kinder teacher you get really attached to these little guys (who literally depend on your every word as to whether they can breathe or not). I am not kidding, they are well-trained!

Sidebar: Some of you may know that Russ and I decided that I am going to take time off to be with the baby and not start back to work after she is born. This is such a blessing, however, I will definitely miss my job.

Back to my great day......these wonderful things happened to me today that made me think something really exciting has happened!

1. My students are actually working independently! A major fete I have been working on ALL year!
2. I had students whose light bulb hadn't been turned on (all year) finally pulled the switch and wrote a SENTENCE!
3. My students fixed their problems (you know those chronic tattle-tellers) ON THEIR OWN!
4. The whole class sat on the carpet and kept their hands to themselves for a whole 5 minutes!
5. My special needs student cooperated with me ONLY after 2 requests!
6. We counted to 110!
My list could go on....

Yes, people I have had a great day! I love my class of wonder kids, as special as their little personalities can be at times, they truly are amazing. There will for be tears on the last day, mostly from the blubbering pregnant lady they call Mrs. Sebring!

I will definitely miss being a kinder teacher, but I know that the second half of this year I am destined for a new calling...to be a mommy!
